Director, Reimbursement

Our client specialty pharmaceuticals leader. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Director, Reimbursement.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Develops and leads the implementation of reimbursement initiatives.
  • Monitors execution of reimbursement initiatives.
  • Identifies pull-through best practices.
  • Works with cross-functional partners to establish ways to improve the throughput of referrals and ensure that patients have product access in a timely manner.
  • Collaborates with Sales Management to constantly improve the referral experience for internal and external customers.
  • Works to evolve the role of the Regional Reimbursement Managers (RRM’s)to ensure it is providing the highest level of value to the Organization
  • Hires, trains, and oversees RRM’s so as to provide the optimal level of support to Field Sales.
  • Partners closely with Sales Directors to consistently refine the approach to pull-through and maximize the percentage of paid/shipped referrals while reducing withdrawals.
  • Works with Market Access partners to strategize the best tactics to increase or maintain payer coverage, and educates Specialists on ideal referral submissions.
  • Assists with the day-to-day management of the hub to maximize performance by suggesting appropriate process improvements, as well as identifying and addressing issues that delay or prevent patient access to therapy.
  • Identifies challenges and opportunities with payers and works with the Market Access team to develop strategies to address them.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties, as required.
  • Covers the South East US territory, from Florida to Texas.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree. MBA or advanced degree highly preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, working across multiple roles, ideally within commercial areas such as reimbursement/market access, sales, marketing, and/or operational roles.
  • Requires demonstrated expertise of reimbursement case management and the pull-through process.
  • Management experience with strong team building, coaching, people development, and leadership skills is required.
  • Requires solid problem solving, conflict management, and analytical skills.
  • Must have the ability to analyze complex situations, identify root cause, and quickly create solutions with clear direction.
  • Reimbursement manager experience highly preferred.
