Chief Medical Officer

Our client is a clinical stage biotech company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Chief Medical Officer.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Reports directly to the CEO.
  • Serves as a member of the senior executive team Develops, leads and executes the company’s clinical development strategy.
  • Partners with the executive leadership team to successfully advance the company’s lead asset through the clinic.
  • Leverages medical expertise to contribute to the development of the company’s corporate strategy.
  • Oversees key clinical support activities including regulatory and manufacturing.
  • Provides clinical and scientific input to discovery and early development activities.
  • Processes and interprets data from trials including outcomes and findings, leading to recommendations on clinical development and regulatory filing strategies.
  • Ensures that all clinical programs are conducted according to appropriate medical/scientific standards, on time and within budget.
  • Manages the presentation of key clinical findings to internal and external stakeholders, including the Board of Directors.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for clinical development, and key contact externally for the company at investor meetings, conferences, and meetings with regulatory authorities.
  • Builds upon and maintain the existing clinical network with external medical/scientific experts and key opinion leaders.
  • Represents the company in discussions/presentations with potential partners and investors.
  • Presents data at appropriate forums such as medical and scientific conferences.

 We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Medical degree required.
  • Requires a strong track record guiding respiratory, allergy, or immunology assets through crucial clinical development stages in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
  • Must be motivated by working in a smaller, high-growth company environment that prizes individual initiative and lacks large company structure.
  • The demonstrated ability to build strong internal and external relationships (KOLs, advisors) is required.
  • Must be an experienced, self-motivated individual with sound analytical skills and a record of achievement in successful IND(s) and/or NDA/BLA(s).
  • Requires a solid understanding of strategic commercial drivers as well as existing and emerging new treatments in the respiratory, allergy, or immunology therapeutic areas.
  • Successful track record in drafting and implementing clinical trial protocols required.
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to recruit, motivate, and lead successful teams with a history of developing a culture of teamwork, collaboration, transparency, and effective communication.
  • Requires time management skills, the ability to handle multiple competing tasks, and strong decision-making skills.
  • Requires excellent written and verbal skills.
  • Must have the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and effectively.
