Director, Translational Scientist

Our client is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel recombinant viral vector vaccines against cancer and infectious diseases. We have been asked to identify candidates for their Director, Translational Scientist.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include: 

  • Provides scientific input to clinical development strategies, ensuring translation of the development plan into operational deliverables.
  • Leads the translation of preclinical research into protocol development, including starting dose, dose escalation and generally provides justification of clinical plans through preclinical data.
  • Leads the development of scientific correlates, biomarkers, and other scientific aspects of the clinical development plan.
  • Analyzes, interprets and authors reports of scientific data from clinical studies.
  • Writes, edits and/or reviews results in study reports, regulatory submissions, abstracts, posters, presentations, peer reviewed manuscripts, and other documents.
  • Contributes to the scientific development of individual clinical studies in alignment with the approved clinical development plan, including authoring and reviewing clinical documents (eg., protocols, eCRFs, ICFs, CSRs).
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders to ensure translation of the clinical protocol into operational deliverables.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in life sciences required. PhD in a relevant field of study highly preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 5+ years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience in clinical research and/or clinical development.
  • Experience with immuno-oncology, virology and/or cell and gene therapy highly preferred.
  • Requires the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Must have excellent presentation and communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical research and the drug development process required.
  • Requires the proven ability to work independently and in a team setting.
  • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.
  • The ability to synthesize information required.
  • Must be able to effectively provide status reports.
