Vice President, Business Development

Our client is a clinical stage biopharmaceutical company developing novel recombinant viral vector vaccines against cancer and infectious diseases. We have been asked to identify candidates for their Vice President, Business Development.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include

  • Leads strategic initiatives and in-licensing activities.
  • Ensures strong alignment between US and Global organization for global transactions.
  • Identifies, assesses and leads opportunities for licensing, partnering, alliances and transactions, from late-stage clinical development through marketed products that will that will enhance and de-risk P&L over the next 5 years.
  • Provides US support for global licensing, collaborations, alliances, and transactions for key transactions across all therapeutic areas that will enhance P&L over the next 5 years as well as support for divestments.
  • Identifies, assesses and leads digital heath opportunities for partnerships and transactions, focusing on transformative technologies and solutions for providers and the business.
  • Cultivates relationships with strategic partners and collaborates with the management team to evaluate partnerships on a US & global basis, leveraging company strengths.
  • Builds, maintains and manages a robust pipeline of potential external assets.
  • Leads regular partnership discussions with senior executives.
  • Manages processes including due diligence for new opportunities, leading the executive team through an analysis of opportunities, and leading the successful negotiation of deals with partners.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field of study required. PhD in a relevant field of study highly preferred.
  • Must have a minimum of 15 years of pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience.
  • Requires documented experience as a leader in a pharmaceutical or biotech environment.
  • Strong sense of commitment and ownership required.
  • Must have solid interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Requires demonstrated strategic thinking abilities.
  • Effective and efficient operational management style required.
