Senior Vice President, Clinical Development

Our client is a global biotechnology leader. We have been asked to identify candidates for their Senior Vice President, Clinical Development.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include: 

  • Oversees the Clinical Development function.
  • Ensures alignment with the company’s overall strategic objectives, and that the function is optimally structured and meets standards of excellence.
  • Provides effective management oversight and decision making, ensuring project resource planning, budget management and appropriate systems, standards and processes are in place to enable data driven decisions and to deliver projects on time and with quality. 
  • Establishes external networks with relevant experts and regulatory agencies.
  • Leverages relationships to remain informed, create collaborations, and achieve goals.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of current medical practices in relevant therapeutic areas.
  • Develops long term organizational plans for the function to prepare for future company needs.
  • Oversees the function’s talent strategy and talent development.
  • Drives to maintain a culture based on the company’s core values of customer focus, innovation, integrity, collaboration and superior performance.
  • Serves as a member and senior leader of the R&D executive committee.
  • Ensures coordination and collaboration with other leaders across the organization and provides functional/strategic input for strategy to deliver on objectives.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Medical degree required. Higher scientific training preferred.
  • Must have early and late stage Clinical Development experience.
  • Requires strong leadership and communication skills in dealing with internal and external customers.
  • Must possess solid team building skills to facilitate and ensure a multi-cultural, matrixed, collaborative environment is maintained.
  • Strong scientific and clinical background required.
  • Requires a track record of accomplished leadership
  • Strategic agility required.
