Cardiovascular/Metabolic/Renal Strategy Lead

Our client is a biopharmaceutical company engaged in biologics research and development. They have asked us to assist them in their search for a Cardiovascular/Metabolic/Renal Strategy Lead.

Major tasks and responsibilities will include:

  • Serves as the CEO of at least one asset, guiding from early stage to late stage clinical and beyond.
  • Responsible for the strategy and execution for a portfolio of therapies in preclinical and clinical stages.
  • Collaborates with other functional areas to ensure a smooth transition of candidate biologics assets from Research to Clinical Development.
  • Leads product development team to create tactical and cohesive brand/product development plans which are aligned with business objectives as well as emerging project and competitive information.
  • Responsible for the execution of the integrated product plan to consented scope, timelines, resources, and budget.
  • Responsibilities include strategic input across cross functional teams.
  • Serves as representative and leads the product development team at governance meetings.
  • Directs the product development team to effectively manage, mitigate, and communicate risk, make decisions, and manage conflict and change.
  • Responsible for maintaining a high degree of effectiveness through collaboration, influence, and coaching/mentoring team members.
  • Alliance management accountabilities and responsibilities.
  • Works with organization leadership, build systems, processes, and tools to facilitate business planning and decision making, and to grow streamlined product leadership and management capabilities.

We seek candidates with the following qualifications: 

  • Advanced degree (MD, PhD, PharmD, or equivalent) in a relevant discipline required.
  • Must have a minimum of 8 years of pharmaceutical industry experience in drug development including experience in early phase non-clinical and/or clinical drug development and regulatory knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the science on Cardiometabolic diseases highly preferred.
  • The demonstrated ability to lead the development of project strategy and be accountable for project plans, timelines, progress, and outcomes is required.
  • Requires the demonstrated experience leading and motivating teams in a matrix environment. 
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to cultivate excellent cross-functional collaborations.
  • Strong organizing and project management skills required.
  • Requires research and development experience with Metabolic, Cardio, and Renal.
  • Must have the ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated success in influencing colleagues and leaders in various departments highly preferred.
  • Must demonstrate high integrity.
  • Prior experience with biologics is highly desirable. 
  • Experience in multiple therapeutic areas and global late phase (II/III) drug development, regulatory submissions, and product launches is a plus.
